Drama is the capital of the homonymous prefecture of eastern Macedonia and the northernmost major economic and political center of Greece. It is a city with a long history, as its area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The word etymology comes from the "Hydrama" - "Drama", due to the abundance of waters gushing in the area.
